Teaching Philosophy & Student Work

My students have gone on to pursue graduate work, enrolled in MFA programs, MA, and MS programs. Some are teaching K-12, some are designers, some in social media management, with others in creative fields such as animation, web design, advertising, UX design and development.

 
 

Final Class Project

Marketing & Branding, Hack University, Hack Oregon
The students produced a creative direction brief and presented to a panel of experts. Their Campaign Goals:

  1. Build credibility
  2. Increase traffic to website
  3. Build awareness around demo day for Hack Oregon
  4. Get people to sign up for Hack Oregon classes
  5. Reveal the Hack Oregon community

Social Networking in the Virtual Community MAR 395, University of Montana
Adapted from Google's 20% free time allocation to promote software engineers to think of new ways to contribute to their community and the company, this project aims to empower students to be creative and innovative in a positive way that impacts their digital community. Students created free sound bits, designed custom fonts and created podcasts. Two font examples by students have over nearly 150,000 downloads collectively.
